Coaching and Mentoring Program

Transferring skill and experience from successful business professionals to emerging individuals.

Unlike a generation ago when a job was ‘for life’, individuals today will typically move into a variety of different roles in potentially unrelated fields over the course of their careers.

Today informal learning is a significant aspect of the learning experience, and formal education is no longer the main source for learning.

At GMAA, we have developed a coaching and mentoring program for members as we realise the opportunity it provides for mutual growth and leadership development. Mentoring allows for both the dissemination and retention of knowledge based on individual experience. Our new and targeted mentoring and coaching program has clearly established criteria for mentor and mentee selection, including a stipulation for commitment to initial and ongoing training.

A GMAA mentee will open themselves up to a huge number of benefits, including the following:

  • Access to a support system during critical stages of academic and career development
  • Access to resources within their chosen profession
  • An insight into factors ensuring a successful career

A GMAA mentor will also open themselves up to a huge number of benefits, including the following:

  • Improved knowledge and skills, job performance and productivity, including leadership development
  • Greater confidence and well-being through the affirmation of professional competence - getting a high mentor rating will be ego boosting
  • An expanded network of professional colleagues including business leaders and government agencies

Both the mentor and mentee, as a team, will engage in an ongoing commitment to one another's development whereby the mentor does not give advice, but instead assists in working through any issues, problems or concerns, in order to enable a positive outcome together.
